Folk and bluegrass is now so popular in Australia that few pubs don’t have at least some Americana artists on their books.
According to Melbourne performer John Flanagan, that rise in popularity can be put down to stronger links between Australia and Nashville.
“I think a lot of bands and musicians have been making connections with Nashville. Sometimes up to 50 Australian musicians go to that each year,” he said.
Flanagan actually recorded his latest album There’s Another Way to Where You’re Going in Nashville with producer Viktor Krauss, which has become a radio favourite.
The John Flanagan Trio will perform at Suttons House of Music on August 26. For more details, visit suttonshouseofmusic.com.au
