He then drove at speed towards the CBD. After the Sturt Street collision he caused several minor collisions near Big W at Alfred Square and reportedly abused bystanders after abandoning his vehicle.

The offender was located at the McDonald’s restaurant at Bakery Hill after management called police to report a man abusing staff and the public. The man was arrested at the scene.
Police says the man was searched and a knife was discovered in his clothing, but he was not trying to hold up the McDonald’s store.
The man was sent to the Acute Inpatient Unit of Ballarat Health Services, where he was still being held at the time of writing. Police say they are waiting on the outcome of toxicology reports before there are any charges laid against the man.
