Swiss-Australian flautist Bridget Bolliger will play from her new album Dancing Shadows – The Works for Flute and Piano by Miriam Hyde. Bolliger will be joined by British pianist Andrew West, and they will also perform work by Schubert, JS Bach, and Aaron Copland.
Dancing Shadows has been described as containing “some frankly ravishing music”, with Bolliger described as possessing “impressive musicianship”.
The music has been said to have dark, delicate undercurrents.
Miriam Hyde was one of the foremost Australian composers of the 20th century. She was also a recognised poet.
The performance will be held at the Oddie Gallery at the Art Gallery of Ballarat on August 23, from 7.30 to 9.0pm.
Tickets range from $10 to $30.
