Ballarat Councillors unanimously voted in favour of the Learmonth Plan: Our Township Towards 2040 at a council meeting on Wednesday evening. The report outlined 30 actions which must be undertaken within the next two decades. It’s the first of sixth township plans to be rolled out. It included promoting historic aspects of the town via toursim, investigating uses for the neglected Learmonth Primary School and ensuring residential development remains within the township zone.
Councillors also gave the green-light to the Today, Tomorrow, Together: Ballarat Strategy. Its purpose is to plan how the city will look in 2040, focusing on development, transport, economic, environmental and land use issues.
