THERE is an old photo of early pioneers, a woman and child, walking up the Camp Hill track that Shirley Boyle loves most. The Beaufort Historical Society president said there was a great view atop Camp Hill over Beaufort and the town’s iconic band rotunda.

Soon visitors will be able to share the view and take that walk.
The historical society is leading a Camp Hill track recreation for a new path and gardens on the hill’s south side, similar to what early settlers enjoyed in the 1880s.
“People who grew up in the area remember playing up there or, in the war, people would go up Camp Hill at night plane-spotting,” Ms Boyle said. Plans for the 1.5-kilometre track feature seating and native shrubs.
