Magin said he had reached agreement with the Lions to spend a second year with the club
The former Gold Coast Sun has had an outstanding season with the Sunbury.
He tied for second in the BFL best and fairest, the Henderson Medal, on Monday night – just one vote behind Lake Wendouree’s Ben Taylor.
He was also a tear away winner of The Courier BFL player of the year award and is a prime reason why Sunbury is lining up in Saturday’s grand final against Bacchus Marsh at the Eastern Oval.
Magin is jumping out of his skin to get another crack at the Cobras in the final series with the opportunity of playing in his first senior premiership.
While he has played in grand finals at junior and senior level, he is yet taste flag success.
Magin said there was a really positive atmosphere at Sunbury, with the focus on ensuring it took intensity and effort into the match.
He has no doubt that can Sunbury get a better start than its two finals to date. Bacchus Marsh jumped the Lions with the opening seven goals in the first quarter in the second semi-final – a margin that it reduced to within striking distance, but was unable to bridge.
Lake Wendouree also caught Sunbury napping in the first quarter of the preliminary final, getting away to a four-goal lead. Sunbury was able to fight back and go away to a comfortable 38-point win.
Magin is confident Sunbury has the experience needed to deal with the pressures of a grand final.
He said Sunbury had learned a great deal in the latter stages of the home and away season, with the change coming after three losses in a row.
Magin said the Lions had responded in the way they needed to – winning seven in a row – and had been rewarded with a grand final berth.
