Ballarat Rush young gun Lydia Brooks has earned her first call-up to the Spirit side after being added to Bendigo’s training roster at the start of the month.
A strong performance in the pre-season fixture could boost the Ballarat player’s chances of landing a spot on the full-time roster ahead of the upcoming season.
Brooks will join fellow Rush teammates Molly Mathews, Kerryn Harrington and Ashleigh Spencer in the Spirit side which takes to the court on Saturday night.
Kasey Burton will fly the Ballarat flag for the Melbourne Boomers after earning her second call-up to the side’s development squad in season 2016/17.
Boomers coach Guy Molloy said he would bring a near full-strength side for the fixture which comes one month out from the start of the season. “We’re looking forward to everyone coming out to watch elite-level women’s basketball,” Molloy said.
The Boomers will also be running a clinic at Yuille Primary School during their visit to Ballarat.
Meanwhile Spirit stars Harrington and Kelsey Griffin will put Ballarat’s elite under-12’s through their paces on Saturday morning.
