The budding musician from Ballarat Grammar took part in a four-day regional Suzuki violin workshop at Damascus College this week, where he was taught by celebrated musicians including world renowned Japanese violinist Shozo Matsumoto.
“All the teachers have a slightly different way of teaching and approaching problems so I’ll take away from this new knowledge and different ways of thinking,” he said.
Jonathon’s teacher Sarah Walters organised the event, which included private lessons, a string orchestra, music theory sessions, world music and a concert.
“It’s an intense learning opportunity with teachers who bring a wealth of knowledge and years of experience in so many different areas,” Ms Walters said.
“One of the lovely things about Suzuki education is that we have a philosophy of sharing, so we have the opportunity to learn so much from those who have spent a lifetime playing music.”
