The nine brigades making up the Ballan group competed across a series of simulated fire situations, and were tested on how they handled the emergencies. 

Made up of risks pertinent to the local area, the tasks including a car fire, trench rescue, first aid and electrical hazards around solar panels. The crews were also tested on their map-reading ability.

BullEx Australia produced a digital fire, made up of a smoke machine and a screen simulating fire and the effects of being sprayed with water. 

The Robert Molesworth award was given to the crew leaders of the Mt Wallace and Blackwood brigades.
