The Melbourne-based singer won the Herald Sun Aria last year and has since worked with Opera Australia and Victorian Opera.
On Saturday she returned to Her Majesty’s Theatre for a recital in the theatre’s Long Room, accompanied by Melbourne pianist Stefan Cassomenos.
“I’ve been freelancing since then (winning) and it’s terrifying but it’s exciting,” Jopson said.
“I wake up every day and I’m so grateful for what I get to do, you don’t feel like you’re working at all.”
Jopson has been refining her voice since she began taking singing lessons at 17.
“It’s really hard to know if you’re good at it or not, you just keep singing and singing and seeing what happens with it.”
