Legendary alternative artist Nick Cave and his band The Bad Seeds have announced their biggest-ever Australian tour, taking in the banks of Lake Wendouree.
The tour comes hot-on-the-heels of the release of the band’s new album Skeleton Tree, an emotional offering recorded in the wake of the tragic accidental death of Cave’s young son and filled with themes of grief and loss.
The tour will begin January 13 in Hobart, with the first mainland show a special outdoor performance at Lake Wendouree on Sunday, January 15.
It will be the first time Cave has performed in Ballarat.
The concert will be a return to the area of regional Victoria both Cave and fellow band member Warren Ellis grew up in.
Cave himself grew up in Warracknabeal, while Ellis was born in Ballarat.
Tickets will go on sale from October 27 at 9am at www.nickcave.com
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds will play at North Gardens and be supported by experimental trio The Necks.
