Forest Fire Management Victoria held its 27th annual Grampians Fire Conference last week as emergency services prepare for the upcoming bushfire season.
One hundred representatives from Forest Fire Management Victoria, CFA, Victoria Police, local government, water authorities and other emergency management partners attended.
Forest Fire Management Victoria’s Wimmera district manager Russell Manning said the conference was an opportunity to focus on how services were working together to plan and deliver fire management.
“Teamwork between emergency management agencies and private landholders will be vital for the coming fire season,” he said.
“We also reviewed how bushfire planning and operations have evolved over the last ten years, particularly since the Grampians Mount Lubra fire of January 2006.”
He said it was especially important for visitors to the area to always be aware of the conditions and pay attention to campfire regulations.
