At least six police cars have swarmed to a Doveton Street North store and are currently questioning a man who appears to have several facial cuts.
A large group of police officers are attending the scene outside Early Settler on Doveton Street North.
An injured man, sitting outside the front of the store was questioned by police. The man had cuts and bruises on his face and was treated by paramedics.
A staff member from the Mid-City Hotel said a man, who appeared to be drunk, walked through the back of the hotel into the reception.
“He abused the hell out of me,” the staff member.
“He yelled and screamed at me.”
He said that man then ran out the front of the hotel and towards towards Early Settler.
“I thought he’d gotten away,” the staff member said.
Ballarat Senior Sergeant Stacey Glenister confirmed a man in his 40s had been assaulted.
The assault is understood to have taken place outside Early Settler.
No arrests were made at the time.
