The Bacchus Marsh Arts Council said it would support and auspice the Rise Up project, Create Art to Create Change, which would help create awareness and raise funds for the cause.
“Art is a powerful way to create positive cultural change and improve community health and wellbeing,” vice-president Kylie Burton said.
Rise Up is an initiative of Ri-Creations and local artist Ri Van Veen, who is also the new president of the Bacchus Marsh Arts Council.
The project consists of two classes where participants create two marching women sculptures, one to keep and one to donate for sale in an exhibition in February.
All sale proceeds will go to agencies supporting victims of domestic violence.

The new art gallery at the Village was officially opened November 11.
