The council is offering free green waste drop-offs between December 5 and 11.
Green waste of no more than three cubic meters can be dropped-off at the Gillies Street South transfer station free of charge.
Drop-offs can be made between 8am and 4pm weekdays and between 10am and 4pm on weekends.
Green waste includes garden prunings, grass clippings, leaves and branches.
Although the wet spring has delayed the fire season this year, the City of Ballarat is encouraging locals to get the ball rolling now.
The council also allowed free chemical waste drop-offs for one day only on Saturday.
Residents were encouraged to safely get rid of toxic household chemicals such as solvents, poisons, cleaning products and fertiliser.
