Eight vehicles were involved in three crashes within an hour of each other following the Meredith Music Festival on Sunday afternoon.
Bannockburn Police Sergeant Craig Grant said the accidents occurred near the corner of Bannockburn-Shelford Road and the Midland Highway from about 4.30pm onwards, with the road busy with patron traffic.
He said while Ambulance Victoria was called to all three accidents, no-one was seriously injured.
“There is a lot of traffic travelling south from the Midland Highway, definitely involved in the line of traffic coming from there (the music festival),” Sergeant Grant said.
“We don’t normally have three accidents like that in such a short space of time.
“The first accident caused the traffic to bank up a little, which might have led to the second accident.”
The first accident involved four cars; the second involved three cars a kilometre north, and the third accident involved two cars not long after, about another kilometre north again.
