
World records are sure to be broken, wood will be chopped and kilograms of bull boar snags will be devoured.
The annual Glenlyon Sports Day is set to delight children and adults alike at its annual New Year’s Day celebration.The tradition dates back to 1857 and it remains of one the last old-fashioned country sports days.
Thousands of people are expected to flock to Glenlyon Reserve, near Daylesford, to watch the array of events including the World Bull Boar Competition which involved eating bull boar sausages the fastest.
There will also be a ladies gumboot throw and nail drive, show jumping and mineral water drinking. The Glenlyon Mixed Sports Day is held on January 1 at the Glenlyon Recreation Reserve, Dysart Strett from 10am.
