The Cardigan-based trainer Golino oversees a state-of-the-art training and breeding operation run by international breeding and racing empire Haras des Trotteurs.
As its title suggests, Haras des Trotteurs specialises in trotters.
The property is in its first full racing season of operation and Golino finds himself in the top 10 on the Victorian trainers’ premiership.
Golino has an opportunity to add his to his tally in a feature event on his new home track in Ballarat – the group 2 EB Cochran Trotters’ Cup, 2200m, – on Saturday night.
He sends around three runners with Heavenly Sister, Vincennes and Italian-bred My Tribeca. He also has the emergency, Glenferrie Burn.
Heavenly Sister is chasing a fourth win on end, while My Tribeca is endeavouring to add to an already impressive record.
They run into a smart field though, with their tasks not made easier by second row draws.
Finnish-bred and New Zealand-trained Daryl Boko shapes as the one to beat.
From the stable of Tim Butt, Daryl Boko raced below his best when last in Australia this time last year, but a last-start win in NZ indicates he is on target for an improved showing this time.
And he will need to improve up against smart mare High Gait, and the in-form duo of The Boss Man, KD Muscles, On Thunder Road, which makes the trip from New South Wales, and another New Zealander in the form of Prince Fearless for Mark Purdon.
HAVE Faith In Me is the other major drawcard outside the Ballarat Pacing Cup, with last year’s Miracle Mile winner in a free-for-all, 1710m.
