Funding from the state government for the City of Ballarat will go towards a digital tour guide of places with ties to the city’s musical heritage.
"This new funding will build on the success of the SongWays Music Festival and will involve mapping historic music performance spaces, from Aboriginal gathering spaces along the Yarrowee River, colonial goldfields venues that served Ballarat's multicultural community, through to contemporary halls, pubs and public spaces used for music,” Cr Coates said.
Cr Coates said SongWays Music Mapping would support live music events including Ballarat Laneways Local and Live, Ballarat Backyard Tasters, Ballarat LoungeRoom Jazz, and the new Ballarat SongWays Festival.
The $20,000 grant was announced by Buninyong MP Geoff Howard on Monday.
