The Kookaburras claimed just their fifth triumph of the Ballarat District Bowls Division season, toppling a Webbcona outfit that was fronting from an upset win over Avenue the round before.
Sebastopol’s 71-59 victory came on the back of rink wins from skippers Jan Gordon and Joan Dunn.
Gordon’s group scored a big 31-11 result, while Dunn’s side prevailed 22-17. Webbcona’s sole winning rink was the one skippered by Brooke Ayers.
Sebastopol’s success hasn’t been enough to lift it from second last place on the division one midweek pennant ladder, but has helped it close the gap on seventh.
Daylesford has slipped to that position after its loss to third-placed Buninyong on Monday.
The spa country side was beaten by 10 shots at home and now sits just five points clear of the Kookaburras.
Elsewhere, Midlands Golf managed to hold onto fourth place despite its 19-shot defeat at the hands of table-toppers City Oval.
Skipper Sandy Grano won her rink, but it was not enough to lift her side to victory over the premiership favourites, which are now 24 points clear at the summit.
Central Wendouree sits in second position and ensured it still has a good gap on Buninyong by beating Avenue 81-73.
Rinks skippered by Elizabeth Kierce and Lyn Maple both won to help the Bears clinch their 11th triumph of season 2016-17.
The final match of the day saw Creswick get home by three shots in a tight battle with Smeaton.
The Wickers’ 66-63 result leaves it seventh on the ladder, one place behind the team it beat on Monday afternoon.
Just four rounds of home and away matches remain until finals get underway on February 27.
