The society will also present activities at Sovereign Hill on February 12, along with a street parade featuring its Lion Team and dragon Xin Long.
Together with these festivities, a significant exhibition, Chinese Fortunes, will open during Chinese New Year at the Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka (MADE).
The exhibition will share some surprising and little known stories of the contributions made to Ballarat and Australia by Chinese immigrants since the gold rush.
Told in English and Mandarin, visitors to the exhibition will learn there was so much more to those who came to Australia than gold miners and market gardeners. The exhibition will be open until June 2017.
If you’re interested in attending the opening event on February 9, please contact Michelle on 0421 608 783 or Charles on 0422 343 357.
