The Tempest is the last of Shakespeare’s plays, a tale of magic, malice and reconciliation set on an enchanted island.
It’s a play well-suited to being performed outdoors, which is one reason Arts Buninyong have chosen it to premiere what they hope will become an annual event performed in the Buninyong Botanical Gardens.
Arts Buninyong member Michael Ford says the production is an edited version running for 90 minutes, featuring students and teachers from Federation University’s Arts Academy and seasoned professionals such as Ian Scott and director and designer Susan Pilbeam.
Michael Ford says community involvement is one of the aims of the production, engaging the students of Buninyong Primary School in helping make the set.
The Buninyong Botanic Gardens will host eight performances of The Tempest opening 7pm, Friday, February 10.
