Police arrested the 20-year-old driver of a purple Ford sedan at the scene of the crash in Smythes Creek. He has not been charged and is assisting police.
Police say the Ford sedan and another car collided at the intersection of Skipton and Rubicon streets at 9.50am.
The car left the scene then struck another car further down the road near Pleasant Street, police say.
A short time later the Ford drove over a traffic island at the intersection of Bells Road and the Glenelg Highway.
It is believed the vehicle eventually stopped on the Glenelg Highway as a result of damage sustained during the incident.
The man was arrested at the scene.
