More than 70 professionals have entered for the $15,000 event, with big names including three-time Australian Masters top 10 finisher David McKenzie, world number 295 Ashley Hall and 2013 Perth International winner Jin Joeng.
Wallis said the list of nominations is “definitely our strongest field” and believes the timing of the event has played a part in attracting high-profile golfers.
“This is the fourth (pro-am) on the new course and this is definitely the biggest and best field we’ve ever had on this course,” Wallis said.
“Having the Eynesbury Masters (Friday and Saturday) certainly helps. They’re offering $60,000, we’re offering $15,000 and then Korringal is $15,000 on Monday.
“It kind of keeps a bit of money in the area. You are looking at $90,000 over four days. If you have a couple of good rounds, you can pick up some decent cash.”
Wallis said the Ballarat course is in great shape for Sunday’s 18-hole event.
“The greens are a little bit slower than what they normally are, being mindful that they’ll be cut, groomed and rolled over the days before the event,” he said.
“You’ll definitely be able to attack the pins, but roll out still really good. The fairways and the other course condition is amazing.”
