The structure which was originally installed at the roundabout of Ripon and Mair streets was removed due to heritage overlay concerns in October last year.
City of Ballarat councillor Des Hudson said the structure would feature in several locations across the city during the first half of 2017.
“While it’s not regarded as a public art installation it does create conversation and that isn't a bad thing,” Cr Hudson said. “It will find a number of different homes and we will gauge public opinion.”
The feature is likely to spend up to a month in Alfred Deakin Place before being shifted on to another location.
A space on the grass along Grenville Street, near the Ballarat Magistrates Court, is being considered as the next location, while L.T Fraser Reserve on Main Road has also been cited as a potential home for the installation.
Cr Hudson said council was yet to decide whether the structure would find a permanent home at the end of its tour of the city.
“We will consider all options...but the infrastructure will only have a limited lifespan.”
