None died – but all were transitory.
The new fixed lineup has given the post-grunge trio new energy, vocalist and guitarist Lee Cheney says.
The Melbournites musicians are riff based and influenced by Silverchair, White Room and Nirvana.
“We had a lot of trouble at the start trying to find a full time drummer so we had about 22 songs under our belt that we recorded demos for but we were in this constant loop of constantly teaching the next musician,” Cheney says.
“It wasn’t until we had our new line up that we were able to start thinking long term.”
Cheney says the band planned to use a “new lease on life” to release another EP.
“It’s got more character to it now, there’s a lot more emotions being put into the song and I think that just comes down to, the musicians that are now involved in the band have more breathing space to bring their sections alive, rather than being a supporting role in the song.
“It’s one thing to be able to learn someone’s song compared to being able to embrace it and take it to another level with your strength and your skills.”
Shadows at Bay will play Babushka Bar on Saturday, June 10.
