Bracks replaces Bob Herbert, who retired from his post after 13 years of involvement.
The role will see Bracks handed the responsibility of ensuring the MCG continues to attract and host major sporting events and in turn keep Victoria and Melbourne as the sporting capital of Australia. The avid football fan said it was an honour to take on the role and said he will be "doing everything" to maintain the outstanding reputation the stadium has built over many years.
“I feel privileged to be appointed a trustee of one of our great national assets on behalf of all Victorians. The MCG is an iconic sporting, cultural and big event precinct. I will be doing everything I can do to maintain it as Australia’s greatest stadium and a world class venue,” Bracks said.
