However, this does not mean the end of a dispute between Stephenson and VFL club North Ballarat.
The Roosters’ board has agreed to grant the ruckman a local interchange permit for the day – a process required to allow VFL-listed players to line-up with home clubs.
The North Ballarat board of management is refusing to clear Stephenson, who announced his retirement from the Roosters as a player and assistant coach early last month, owing to “some residual contractual issues”.
NBFC chairman John Nevett told The Courier on Thursday that the club was working closely with Stephenson and AFL Victoria to resolve the issues as quickly as possible.
Stephenson, who played with Redan against Ballarat on May 20, is believed to be considering pursuing an appeal process.
