The Voice Australia 2012 winner was born with a stutter. Singing – first in a choir and then solo – freed him from shyness. The track which freed him was Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian’s breakout song Angels Brought Me Here.
Craig will perform Kings of Vegas Lounge Sessions in Ballarat next month featuring the songs of Nat King Cole, Tom Jones, Sinatra’s Rat Pack and Elvis Presley.
“It was just very freeing to know you could get through this next tune, you could talk in between a little bit, you could be more versatile than what you were when you were speaking,” Craig says.
“I knew, I can do whatever I want to do. That’s the thing that was freeing - I think speaking came second in terms of how easy it was for me.”
Craig’s Kings of Vegas Lounge Sessions is on at Mercure Convention Centre on July 8 from 7.30pm. To book call Mercure Ballarat on 5327 1200 or visit www.mercureballarat.com.au.
