The Queer Generations Research Project is seeking the experiences of people born in those periods who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer, and who grew up in Melbourne or regional and rural Victoria.
Professor Mary Lou Rasmussen of ANU says she is hoping to speak to people about such topics as coming out, dealing with family, dating before social media, going to school and other life issues.
“We’re hoping to discover what the experience of being gay in regional Victoria, in places like Ballarat, was like for those generations,” said Professor Rasmussen.
The 1970s session will be held at 10.30am on Saturday, and the 1990s session at 11.30. Both will conducted at Trades Hall in Camp Street. Participants will receive $20 compensation.
