An internationally recognised theatre company is tantalisingly close to setting up temporary headquarters in Ballarat to conduct auditions for a Melbourne production.

Open to individuals between the age of 10 and 21, 100 applicants from Ballarat are required in order to set up audition headquarters for Grease-The Lightning Experience in Ballarat and about 30 applicants are still needed to reach that target by Thursday.
Ballarat Centre of Music and the Arts Director Paula Heenan said Harvest Rain Theatre Company is one of the biggest theatre event organisers in Australia.
In its thirty year history, some of the shows in its repertoire include Cats, Monty Python’s Spamalot and Pirates of Penzance.
“It would be an incredible honour to have them come to Ballarat and to ultimately choose some of our remarkable Ballarat talent to be a part of the Grease Arena Spectacular in April, 2018,” Ms Heenan said.
“Any people aged 10 – 21 are eligible to ‘audition’ and it is certainly not restricted to students of the BCMA. We would love to encourage dance and performing arts students from all over Ballarat to register to the Grease team will come and see how incredible the Ballarat talent is.”
After a skills assessment day in August, the successful applicants will then take part in the Performing Artist’s Boot Camp from the 20th-23rd of October.
Final performances will take place from from Friday 13th April until Sunday 15th April 2018 at the Hisense Arena in Melbourne.
