Ballarat sisters Jemma and Alanna Peart have both claimed bronze medals at the Australian Winter Walks Championships in Wollongong at the weekend.

Alanna competed in the under-16 girls’ 5km race, finishing with a time of 25 minutes and 34 seconds – a personal best of more than two minutes.
She was the only Victorian to feature in the race.
Older sister Jemma completed the under-18 girls’ 5km race with a time of 25 minutes and seven seconds.
Jemma was one of two Victorians in the event, with Mentone Athletic Club’s Rebecca Henderson finishing in first with a time of 24 minutes and 19 seconds.
Meanwhile, fellow WestVic Academy of Sport athlete Jack Denahy has qualified for nationals in boxing despite going down in a gold medal bout in the lightweight 57-60kg division of the state championships.
