Ballarat Rush’s under-14 side is preparing to take on some of the best teams from around the country in the under-14 Australian Club Championships, beginning on Monday.

The under-14s defeated Waverley 49-37 in the Basketball Ballarat Junior Elite Teams grand final to claim the Victorian Championship Reserve division. It also won the Ballarat Country Championships, meaning the under-14 Rush side’s campaign will continue in Dandenong at the championships.
Rush’s first match is against South West Metro Pirates as it becomes the first under-14 side to qualify for the tournament since 2013.
Basketball Ballarat manager of athlete and coach development Nathan Cooper-Brown was extremely proud of the team’s efforts.
“I am incredibly proud of this team and staff. Coaches Lidina Constable and Justin O’Gorman, have done a sensational job of getting the team to buy in to our program values and standards,” Cooper-Brown said.
“The whole Basketball Ballarat community will be behind them as they take on the rest of the nation next week.”
Meanwhile, the under-18 side has also enjoyed great success this season.
It produced a stellar playoffs campaign, after finishing third on the Victorian Championship Reserve division ladder, Rush stormed through to defeat Pakenham 60-51 in the grand final at Dandenong Stadium.
