Commodore Colin Littlejohn said the club was working to strengthen its role in the broader community, on and off Lake Wendouree.
Increased access for the club’s Sailability program will be a key focus for the season ahead, with a redeveloped jetty set to open early next year. Commodore Littlejohn said about 100 people from all-abilities programs at Scope, McCallum and Ballarat Specialist School were part of Sailability last year and, with a new jetty suitable for wheelchairs, the club hoped this program would grow.
“We see our role now more in what we can do in our community and this includes our restaurant, the rowers and other lake users,” Commodore Littlejohn said.
“Sailing is a sport with very strong values and a proud history of racing. We’re also proud of our community.”
The family club has yachties aged three to 93 out on the water.
