At an open house on Sunday, Parks Victoria will discuss ideas for Woowookarung Regional Park, including how to balance recreation and community use with conservation of native flora and fauna before a draft plan is released in December 2017.
The department is undertaking priority works including road works and maintenance, signage, rubbish removal, and weed control.
Parks Victoria district manager Tony English said the park offered “wonderful” recreational opportunities.
"Woowookarung Regional Park is a hidden gem, just minutes from Ballarat and full of natural and cultural heritage values,” Mr English said.
"The park’s future will rely on collaboration between the local community and Parks Victoria, so we encourage people to share their thoughts.
“In the meantime, we encourage the local community explore their new park."
The open house is on Sunday, October 29, from 1pm until 4pm at Earth Education Centre in Mount Clear.
