Jeffrey and Marks hail from the United Kingdom and prevailed over Ballarat boys Chris Alizzi and Andrew Rowan 8-5 in the final.
Jeffrey and Marks, one of a number of overseas pairs, advanced through the round robin and knockout stages undefeated, as did their Ballarat opponents. Therefore, meeting in the final provided an unknown factor for the British pair, having not played the hometown pair – which was playing its maiden tournament.
The UK duo, who are brothers-in-law, fell to an early deficit, but fought their way back to enjoy an impressive victory.
“We were under pressure, we lost the first few games,” Marks said.
“There wasn’t much in it in the end.
“It’s (Real Tennis) a bit like human chess. You’ve got to do a lot of tactical thinking and placement.”
The pair will now turn its attention to the Boomerang Cup in Melbourne later this month.
