The CFA has given the all clear for the grassfire at Myrniong, which it says is now safe.
People located within Myrniong, Pentland Hills are now able to resume normal activities.
UPDATE, 5pm:
A 15 hectare grass and scrub fire at Myrniong is now under control.
The fire near Dormar Lane and Old Western Highway first started around 3.20pm.
A CFA spokesperson said blacking out of the area may take some time.
17 vehicles and six aircraft worked to put out the fire.

The fire is around Dormar Lane and Old Western Highway in Myrniong.
Fire crews and air support are on scene. 17 vehicles and six aircraft are working to put out the fire.
There is currently no threat to communities but authorities have advised residents of Myrniong and Pentland Hills to monitor conditions as grassfires can spread rapidly.
Smoke may be visible from nearby communities and roads.
The fire danger rating was very high in western Victoria today due to high winds.
