The boys from Ballarat proved too good in Sunday’s final at Mt Xavier, prevailing 3 1/2 to 1 1/2 over a gallant Buninyong.
Kieran Chapis and Liam Howlett got Ballarat off to a great start, scoring victories over Luke Inglis (5/4) and James Inglis (6/5) respectively to go two up early in the clash.
An exciting battle followed between Buninyong’s Joel Smith and Ballarat’s Ryan Wilson, with neither giving an inch before fighting out a draw.
In the next match, Brandon Davidson got the better of Paddy Murphy, winning 5/4, to give Ballarat an unassailable lead.
David O’Donnell got one back for Buninyong late in the day when he defeated Kacee Kirwan-Hamilton two up in a tight affair.
Also on Sunday at Mt Xavier Golf Club, “The McIlroys” took out the two-person Ambrose My Golf Junior League grand final against “The Days”.
The closest match of the morning was between Harry Chapman and Jack Sproul (The Days) and Will Roberts and Grace Jansen (The McIlroys), who played out a tense 4.5 draw.
Tom Bosworth, Bryce Henwood, Annabel Tarantino and Viven Johnson-Knight were also part of the winning team on the day.
