Blake Connor Dean appeared in the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on Monday and pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual assault against two women at the Eel Skinners and Duck Pluckers B&S, which was held on the Glenelg Highway near Skipton on December 9.
The court heard the first victim returned to her car when she was approached by Dean, who attempted to talk to her before trying to place a lolly in her mouth.
Police said the young woman went to check on a friend in a tent but was followed inside, with Dean lying on top of her and saying “just kiss me, just kiss me”.
Pinning her down, Dean sexually assaulted the woman before she managed to escape.
The court was told later at the B&S Ball he approached the second victim and began “kissing her forcefully”.
Police said Dean pushed her to the ground, but the victim began kicking and escaped before bursting into tears.
Dean was later arrested and taken to Ballarat police station.
On Monday in court, Dean’s defence lawyer initially pushed for a good behaviour bond, saying he was remorseful and his family was disappointed.
However, Magistrate John Doherty rejected this, slamming Dean’s actions as “unprovoked sexual attacks” that could leave lasting impacts on the two victims.
Dean, who was supported by his father in court, was jailed for 18 months with a non-parole period of 12 months.
He appealed Mr Doherty’s sentence and was released on bail until an appeal hearing in the County Court at a later date.
