CFA crews said they were called to a residential address on Recreation Road about 2.30am and found a corrugated iron shed fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control within 15 minutes as police arrived to guard the scene.
Crime Investigation Unit detectives said they were treating the blaze as suspicious.
An arson chemist and CFA investigators have launched an investigation into the cause of the blaze.
The shed, which sat in the backyard of a house just metres away from other buildings, was burnt to the ground and the owner lost property in the incident.
There were also reports of suspicious grass fires in Wendouree West overnight.
