The Miners won the final quarter, but never truly threatened, Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence recording a seven-point victory – opening its season with a victory.
Nick Pozoglou was impressive with 14 points and a team-high for rebounds (nine) and assists (five). Peter Hooley led the team for points, draining 22, while Davon Usher hit 18.
Ballarat opened its season on a winning note with victory against Dandenong last week, Friday’s loss evens the ledger after two rounds. The Miners will not have to wait long to return to the winner’s list as it faces Canberra on Saturday night. It will be Canberra’s first match for the season. Tip-off is at 5.30pm at Belconnen Basketball Stadium.
