The decision was made at 8.30am.
Nitro Circus pokesman Nathan Brown said organisers would assess the situation at 8.30am tomorrow morning and it was hoped the weather would improve.
“Fingers crossed we get a break with the weather so we can get this show on for the Warrnambool folk, which is what we desperately want,” he said.
Those attending have been advised to follow the Nitro Circus Facebook page.
On Sunday general gates will open at 2pm and show time will be at 3pm.
EARLIER:
A severe wind warning issued on Friday has forced Nitro Circus to look at moving its much anticipated Saturday show.
The adrenaline junkies are scheduled to perform their Next Level tour show at Warrnambool’s Reid Oval on Saturday at 3pm.
More than 7000 tickets have been sold to the show which includes motorcross, BMX and Nitro's trademark crazy contraption where “anything that shouldn’t go down a ramp does”.
The show features motocross superstar Travis Pastrana as well as the biggest ramps on earth.
Nitro Circus spokesman Nathan Brown said rider safety and customer experience was their priority.
“At this stage we are not postponing,” he said. “We are going ahead but a definitive call will be made at 9am Saturday (whether the event will be held as scheduled).”
Mr Brown said they would either announce that the show would go ahead or issue a revised time for a show on Sunday.
“We want to make the call before everyone gets into the oval tomorrow. If we do have to postpone the show we will announce the new times for Sunday. Fingers crossed for an unlikely break in the weather.
“If we get severe wind warnings we have to get off the show set. We can’t physically do it.”
On Friday the Bureau of Meteorology predicted a 95 per cent chance of rain, with a possible fall of 10 to 25 millimetres. There is also chance of a thunderstorm and 40 and 65 kilometre an hour winds.
Mr Brown said they were keeping an eye on the weather and said Friday’s conditions and the overnight weather forecasted had put them at least six hours behind schedule.
“We’re building as much as we safely can today. This (set up) would normally all be done by now but we’ve taken some things down due to the overnight wind warning.
“We’re building a bare minimum. We’ll be here tomorrow super early and at 9am depending on how much work we’ve done and the winds we’ll make the call whether we can do the show.
“At midday we got a destructive wind warning from the bureau and the next update is at 9am (Saturday) which is when we’re going to make the call.”
He said if Saturday’s show was postponed and weather permitted the show would go ahead on Sunday. In the unlikely event of the cancellation of Sunday’s event, ticket holders would receive a full refund.
Nitro Circus took to the Nitro Circus Live – Warrnambool Facebook page and nitrocircus.com on Thursday afternoon to say it was business as usual at this point.
“We're monitoring the wind and rain forecast in Warrnambool, and at this time, the show is going ahead as scheduled on Saturday,” the post said.
“If this changes, we will update you.”
Mr Brown said if any changes were made to the scheduled show, the public would be informed via The Standard website, the Nitro Circus Live – Warrnambool Facebook page and their website.
He said general admission tickets were still available and could be purchased from Ticketmaster or at the gate.
The VIP gates open at 12.30pm, general gates open from 2pm with the show to kick of at 3pm Saturday, pending changes due to weather.
