The 13-year-old from Ballarat East was presented with an Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority award on Wednesday. He was one of 31 children who were awarded as a Triple Zero Hero.
Ryobi and his mum Kylie said listening to the recording of the triple zero call was an emotional experience.
“I couldn’t be more proud of him for the call and staying calm, cool and collected in such a scary situation. I was changing colours on him and I didn’t even know,” Ms Hindle said.
Ryobi continued to convey information to the triple zero operator for more than 11 minutes until paramedics arrived at their home.
“I feel good to know I helped her,” Ryobi said.
