Partners of tradies are invited as special guests for a HALT night out focusing on mental health services in this region and how tradies, their partners and loved ones can access them.
HALT, which stands for Hope Assistance Local Tradies, will host the free event at Golden City Hotel in Sturt Street on May 23, 7-9pm.
The Castlemaine-based organisation is behind the popular Save Your Bacon Brekky, linking tradies to mental health services by giving them a feed and empowering them to seek help before reaching a crisis point.
Mr Forbes said the approach of early intervention and talking to apprentices on issues such as finances, relationship breakdown and seeking help early was the key. His call to action is subject of a TED talk due out this month.
The charity has expanded its work across regional communities and interstate, also now working with TAFEs and workplaces.
HALT is teaming up with Ballarat services such as headspace, Relationships Australia, Ballarat Community Health and Lifeline to bring a showcase of services and help people learn to have those sometimes-difficult conversations.
