The Tigers got the jump on the Ballarat GMHBA Miners to lead at the first break, 22-15, while the home team also dominated the third quarter of the South East Australian Basketball League clash.
But the Miners rallied and finished both halves strongly to be down by just one point at half-time and level at full time before outscoring the Tigers 14-9 in overtime.
Davon Usher (21 points) Peter Hooley (20 points), Josh Fox (18 points and 10 rebounds) and Sam Short (18 points) all stepped up to play key roles in the visitors’ thrilling win.
The Miners face one more challenge in Nunawading in what will be a battle for second spot on Sunday before enjoying a well-deserved break.
