NORTH Ballarat premiership ruckman Orren Stephenson is back on target to represent the Victorian Football League in Western Australia on Saturday, May 22.Stephenson has recovered from a groin strain which forced him to miss the Selkirk Roosters' 83-point win over Frankston five days ago and put his Big V selection hopes under a cloud. He trained at full pace with North Ballarat on Wednesday night - getting through the session without any problems - and will line up against Werribee Tigers in Ballarat on Sunday. As long as Stephenson plays out that match without any setbacks, he is as good as on the plane to Perth to face the WAFL.He has developed into the VFL's premier ruckman over the past three or four years, being a key contributor in North Ballarat's back-to-back grand final victories. If fit, he will be one of the first picked by state coach Gerard Fitz-Gerald.Stephenson strained his groin against Box Hill Hawks at Box Hill on May 1 and could not be considered for the Roosters' next assignment.Stephenson is one of five North Ballarat players in the running for Big V selection.Captain Shaune Moloney and midfielders/onballers Myles Sewell and Steve Clifton are leading candidates, while defender Matt Tyler provides an option if FitzGerald and his selectors are looking for a versatile tall.
