Lake Wendouree coach Melinda Sands said players from both teams shared a touching moment, where they put the game aside to have a minute silence in honour of the life of Eurydice Dixon as well as making a stand against violence towards women.
Sands said the image of the players reached and moved a close friend of Ms Dixon.
The final result of the close match at Maddingley Park on Sunday was 22-points apiece in what Sands described as a “wonderful game played in such good spirits”.
Meanwhile, Gisborne defeated Melton Centrals by 10 points despite finishing the game with only 15 players on the field and East Point defeated Ballarat by 114 points in a dominant display.
