Emergency crews were called to the residential address on Wilson Street following reports of the incident about 10.45am.
It's believed the tradie was in the truck when the tall crane fitted to the back of the vehicle clipped the lines and sparked the explosion.
Neighbours said they heard two loud bangs before flames and smoke billowed into the sky.
"It was bloody loud," one resident said at the scene.
"It shook the house, it was unbelievable.”
The tradie avoided life-threatening injuries and was able to get out of the truck before paramedics took him by road to hospital.
WorkSafe investigators and police also attended the site.
Several residents in the area said electricity was temporarily cut to their homes.
