In women’s action, Ballarat Rush kept close with the third-placed Kilsyth and even led by as much as eight points in the second quarter before scores were tied at the final break.
But the Cobras’ 10-point opening three minutes of the fourth term gave the visitors the upper hand when it counted most, but Rush remained competitive to go down by nine points.
In men’s competition, Kilsyth was quick out of the blocks before Ballarat Miners surged late in the first term to lead the top team heading into the first break.
But, despite an improvement offensively, the Miners again fell away defensively to go down by 15 points.
