Opened in 1988 after the loss of Ballarat teenager Fiona Elsey to Ewing’s Sarcoma in 1991, the Cancer Research Institute was deemed a worthy fundraiser recipient by the Chinese Community Association after discussion amongst the members.
The Institute is largely recognised in the community for its annual Research4Research Cycle Classic, which attracts participants from across the community.
The donation was presented to Deputy Chair David Fisken and Board Member Robert Tommasini of the Research Institute, by Chinese Community Association president Peter Lo and Secretary Shirley Doon.
The organisation is committed to supporting the local Ballarat community, with funds raised by members in a continuation of philanthrophic efforts since it’s inception.
